Left Coast Naturals & Hippie Snacks is an organic and natural food manufacturer and distributor based in Burnaby, British Columbia. It's the first distributor in North America to have a formal Non-GMO Policy. Distributing 30 brands and 200 bulk foods while manufacturing several brands including Hippie Snacks and Left Coast Organics, it serves grocery, specialty, and natural food stores across Western Canada and the United States. Role: Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is a pivotal member of the Finance and Management Team, responsible for maintaining timely, accurate, and relevant financial, sales, operational, and margin information to support the objectives of the Strategic Plan.

This position reports to the CFO.

Supervision Provided:

Once established, this role will supervise either the accounting assistant or the administrative coordinator.

Responsibilities:.

Accounting & Finance:

  • Prepares and analyzes monthly and year-end financial statements, along with ad-hoc financial reporting, including variance and margin analysis.
  • Maintains manufacturing overhead and costing models, and other related reconciliations.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and reports information driving future sales using Sage Business, Vision, Crystal Reports, Excel, and Access.
  • Identifies high and low performing items, brands, and customers to uncover root causes and trends.
  • Assists in developing and reporting corporate sales forecasts, sales targets, and evaluating promotional programs.
  • Reports margin performance vs. targets and contributes to pricing decisions.
  • Develops financial models and sources aiding in creating and evaluating value-adding customer programs.
  • Maintains and evolves the corporate dashboard and KPI/metrics program.
  • Oversees financial closing, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Prepares regular financial reconciliations, journal entries, and ad-hoc reports.
  • Manages Finance-related government remittances and compliance filings.

Administration:

  • Acts as the internal IT support contact when the CFO is unavailable.
  • Coordinates with ERP and network system support contacts for issue resolution (Sage, BV Essentials/TriTech, F12).

Skills & Education Required:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Commerce.
  • Professional accounting or analyst designation (CPA, CFA).
  • Minimum 3 years' full-cycle experience in a senior-level Accounting/Analyst position and 5 years' overall accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Access, and Word.
  • In-depth knowledge of ERP software, preferably Sage BusinessVision.
  • Ability to develop custom reports in Crystal Reports, Access, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of basic IT, networking, and computer systems.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in a sales and innovation-driven corporate culture is advantageous.
  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions, ERP implementations, or a manufacturing environment is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid office and work from home setup with extended computer use.
  • Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Reports to the CFO
