Say hello to our new Brand Ambassador Program Coordinator (formerly Demo Program Coordinator)! Shelagh (pronounced like “Sheila”) holds a degree in Environmental Science, is a sponsored athlete and has a passion for sustainability.
1. Could you tell us about yourself?
I grew up in Edmonton as an outdoor enthusiast and environmental nerd. I found a passion for bodybuilding and nutrition after finishing university, and that led me to become a health coach. Eventually I landed a contract as a sponsored athlete for a Vancouver-based supplement company. A few years ago I moved from Alberta, since then I’ve done product demos and trade shows all throughout the lower mainland.
2. You’ve worked as a Brand Ambassador before. What was your favourite part about doing demos?
During the years that I worked as a brand ambassador for the nutraceuticals companies, my favourite part was working in different environments every day. I loved getting to meet new people every day, connecting with them, and finding a product that would help improve their health and well being.
3. How will that hands-on experience help you as a Brand Ambassador Coordinator?
Thanks to that experience I know firsthand all the challenges Brand Ambassadors face and the type of support you need from a Coordinator. Aside from being very organized, it’s also important to be available to respond to inevitable last minute changes, find creative ways to solve those problems, and help motivate our team.
4.What’s something quirky about you that most people don’t know?
Something kind of strange about me is that I consider Grizzly Bears to be my spirit animal. I have had countless encounters with these beautiful, powerful animals in the wild. I used to volunteer at Grouse Mountain primarily to hang out with the two bears that live there!
