Writer, runner, traveler, fashionista and sustainability champion, meet Miranda our new Marketing Specialist. Here’s more about Miranda and what she’ll be doing at Left Coast:
What are you most excited about working with Left Coast Naturals?
When I first learned about Left Coast, I didn’t quite believe there was a company out there that was so good to people and the planet! I’m excited to be marketing truly healthy products as well as a company that stands behind its sustainability values. And of course, I’m looking forward to sampling all the good brands we have so I have adequate product knowledge before promoting them 😉
What are the main roles you’ll have as the Marketing Specialist?
I’ll be coordinating the consumer shows such as the Veg Expo, creating amazing content for social media (and this blog!), applying for awards, ensuring consistency for the updated Hippie Snacks branding, and more.
What’s your previous experience as a marketer?
I started my career in the fashion industry and that included conceptualizing campaign themes, creating look-books, and reaching out to buyers and editors. But after a few years, I saw so much waste in the industry that I enrolled in a sustainability program at BCIT and later joined Canadian Springs, the company we did our capstone project with. There, I designed and executed national campaigns, helped develop the new website from a UI/UX perspective, managed the social media, and more.
What’s something fun, odd or interesting people might not know about you?
The first time I ever took a spin class I actually listened when the instructor kept yelling to go HARDER! FASTER! STRONGER! I pushed myself so hard I ended up in the hospital for three days. It was such a strange situation that all the doctors had quizzical looks on their faces when I told them my story. Lesson learned: listen to your body and stop listening to motivational workout messages like “Push yourself to the limit.” Either that or never take another spin class!
