Social Impact Entrepreneur Recognized
Two years ago, our President, Ian Walker, was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (EOY). This year, he was nominated again, and took home the EOY Social Impact Award for the Pacific Region of Canada!
As you may, here at Left Coast we try to do the right thing—for the environment, the community, and the people we work with. And we’re proud to win an award that recognizes our impact on people. As Ian mentioned in his acceptance speech, “Impact is really how you should measure success. For me, measuring success as a business is measuring the positive impact you have as a business.”

What Comes Around Goes Around
What’s cool about Ian and Left Coast is that sustainability and social responsibility weren’t added to the company when those words started trending. These core values were built into the foundation of the company. And what’s more is that these values were instilled in Ian from a young age.
Ian dedicated this Social Impact award to his dad. He said, “He taught me that it’s not about how big you are or how many employees you have. It’s about how you treat people, how you impact people, who you represent and how you represent yourself out there.”
“I like the expression B Corp uses, ‘You don’t want to be the best company in the world. You want to be the best for the world.’” – Ian Walker
