Another year, another CHFA event under our belt! We came, we saw, we conquered… Well, not quite. But it was great to be back at Western Canada’s largest health food trade show. And this time, we brought some amazing new brands with us.
Cool New Brands
Rise Brewing Co. is the newest member of our portfolio of brands. Its innovative nitrogen-infused cold brew coffee in a can is the winner of Bevnet’s New Beverage award. Co-founder Grant Gyesky came all the way from New York to share his award-winning drink with the Western Canadian market.
Ever heard of Mark Sisson? He’s pretty much the founding father of the popular Paleo Diet—and of the brand Primal Kitchen! Primal created the first avocado oil-based mayonnaise, and soon they’ll be launching its first vegan mayo! They also carry an amazing line of avo oil-based salad dressings. Put the Ranch dressing on your next grocery list; it’s their best-selling flavour.
This might offend some vegans, but… if you’re not an omnivore, this would be the product that changes your mind. Ascend Beef Jerky has the perfect balance of flavour while retaining the softness in texture. All flavours are amazing, but a few of us at Left Coast have Lemon Pepper on our Faves List. Just sayin.
Cool New BrandING
We love that the Neal Brothers have really stepped up their game. See the difference? The branding went from classic to bold, flavourful, punchy. Also the names have been updated with a more playful tone. Case in point: Tortilla chips went from “Organic Blue” to “Deep Blue.” Our fave new name is probably for the Mild Salsa: “Not-So-Spicy!”
Fortified Nutrition changed the name of its grass-fed meat product to Evolved Snack Stick, but maintained the same unique flavours. Retailers tried (and loved) the Pork, Bacon & Pineapple, Beef Bacon & Apple, and Beef, Cherry & Sweet Potato combos.
Brands We Know and Love
A few of us on the Marketing team are big fans of mint so we had to use all our energy to not devour the entire plate of Newman O’s Hint-O-Mint cookies!
Yum doesn’t even begin to describe how these candies taste. Mmmm……
Peas Please? Yes, please! Peeled Snacks demoed their popular pea shaped snacks along with the new pea puffs and their dried fruit.
Zak Organics founders Allen and Marilyn came from Saskatchewan to demo their amazing Crunchy Peas snacks. Although we suspect they brought the snow with them over the weekend—just kidding!
There’s always something for everyone with Late July, whether it’s seasoned tortilla chips, tortilla dippers, saltine crackers, mini cheese crackers, or more.
Last but not least… our own Hippie Snacks! We sampled our new Organic Sesame Snack, and an even newer product… which we’ll tell you about when it launches!
And when it’s all said and done… this was the crew that went through it all! Here’s a quick pic of our team that stayed till the (sweet) end.
