The CHFA Loves Our Sustainability Efforts!

We’re long-time supporters of the Canadian Health & Food Association (CHFA) and have been exhibiting for at least 15 years. What an honour it is to take home the 2017 CHFA Sustainability Award this year!

The CHFA presents Industry Achievement Awards to companies in the natural health and organic products industry for outstanding achievements. We’re proud to say this is the second time we’ve received the award, while the first time was in 2014. We gotta say, that’s not a bad track record considering you can’t win in consecutive years!

Our (Long) Road to Sustainability

Here at Left Coast we don’t just talk about sustainability, we walk the talk—to the best of our abilities. The road to sustainability is a never-ending journey (and not the easiest one) but we try hard to incorporate it into our culture.

A few pretty cool sustainable things we did last year include:

•  Volunteering with the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup
•  Awarding 66 hours of paid volunteer days
•  Reducing our Climate Smart emissions by 7% through transportation and heating

We’re so honoured to have received both the CHFA Sustainability Award and COTA Supplier of the Year Award (Canadian Organic Trade Association) in April, but our work doesn’t end here.

For later this year and 2018, we already have big plans to make some positive environmental changes to our shipping process, so keep your eyes peeled on this blog.
