Hippie Snacks Receives Product of the Year Honourable Mention

Posted on 07/03/2018 by Left Coast

We’re happy to announce that our latest product, Hippie Snacks Seed & Nut Clusters, have received an Honourable Mention for BC Food Processors Association’s Product of the Year Award!

This is actually Hippie’s 4th BCFPA Product of the Year award. In the past, our Coconut Chips, Veggie Clusters, and Coconut Clusters have taken home accolades.

We’re proud to receive this award alongside other Honourable Mention recipient Earnest Ice Cream. Who doesn’t love their array of delicious dairy and dairy-free ice creams?

The Honourable Mention was specifically awarded to the Crispy Onion flavour. Are you wondering what’s a Seed & Nut Cluster, exactly? They’re snackable bites composed of toasted organic pumpkin seeds, nutrient-packed sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, cashews, chia seeds and quinoa crisps. Add a touch of Himalayan salt and black pepper, they deliver a nutty and subtle onion flavour with an irresistible crunch.

For the sweet tooths out there, we also have a sweet version of the Seed & Nut Cluster. It’s called Sweet Coconut and it’s got the same base of sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds but sprinkled with papaya and cranberries.

If you want to see the behind-the-scenes experience of our journey through the BCFPA’s ‘Dragon’s Den’ pitching process, please read about it here.

We’d also like to thank you to all the judges who took their time to weigh in on this year’s latest food innovations from BC, including:

  • Mijune Pak, Follow Me Foodie & Westender Food Columnist
  • Yves Potvin, Owner, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts
  • Ken Clark, General Manager, Corporate Brands, Western Family
  • David Eto, President, Advocacy Committee, BC Dairy Association
  • Danny Markowicz, Executive Chef, White Spot & Triple O’s

Here are a few of our fine retail partners that are carrying them right now: Vegan Supply (Vancouver), Lepp Farm Market (Abbotsford), Donald’s Market (Port Coquitlam), Market on Millstream (Victoria), Hornby Island Coop (Hornby Island), Olives Community Market (Whistler), Blush Lane (Edmonton & Calgary), and more!
