Director of Sales


The Director of Sales oversees field sales management, customer service management, key account sales, business development and sales admin support. The Sales Director reports directly to the company President as a member of the key executive team making strategic decisions. The key areas of focus will be set brand sales strategy to build Hippie Snacks sales in Canada and U.S. as well as drive Left Coast Organic branded bulk sales.



  • Work with executive team to establish overall company strategy and goals
  • Determine the short and long term sales strategies for both Canada and the U.S.
  • Implement a variety of new strategically aligned business initiatives to drive sales.
  • Develop and manage the annual Sales Budgets
  • Work directly with the Sales Manager and collaboratively
    • Responsible for the hiring, training, development, motivating and coaching of all members of the sales management and sales support team.
    • Works to ensure that strategically important products/brands (Hippie Snacks, LCN manufactured) are the primary focus for the entire sales team
    • Develops templates and sales presentation tools to allow the Sales Management team to successfully roll out new listings, initiatives and promotions
    • Ensures the organization has an effective sales training program
    • Ensures price catalogues are sent out efficiently and in a timely manner
    • Ensures the CRM is being used effectively and provides a competitive advantage.
    • Develops the necessary CRM tools to allow fpror effective field sales management.
  • Work directly with the Key Account Manager to ensure all sales targets are met for key accounts – including pricing programs, promotional support, new listings execution, shelving & merchandising programs, and product initiatives
  • Work to establish Category Management principles for the Bulk & Branded Bulk businesses
  • Provide support for all major account presentations
  • Work directly with head office large key accounts including Loblaw’s, Sobeys, Starbucks, Trader Joes and Costco
  • Work directly with the Business Development Manager to manage and execute the approved US Hippie Snacks launch strategy; work to establish an Eastern Canadian Hippie Snacks strategy and execute against it; work to develop the necessary skills – budgeting, account planning, building presentations etc. and provide the necessary mentorship/leadership to grow the BDM to the next level
  • Work closely with the Brand Manager to ensure all vendor programs are effectively communicated to the Sales Team
  • Directly manage all critical key retail account activities as it pertains to relations, growth, and profitability
  • Organize new product intro presentations
  • Establishe metrics to maximize sales results and hold the team accountable. Ensures regular and purposeful business reviews are conducted with our top 15 customers
  • Work with stakeholders to establish pricing (increase/decrease/programs) that maximize Left Coast Naturals profits and topline sales results


    • A minimum of 5 years Senior Sales Leadership experience in the grocery industry, ideally within the Health/Natural Food segment
    • Focused expertise with Branded Grocery products (preferred snack brand) and building markets within Canada and USA
    • Relationships with grocery decision makers at key accounts across Canada and USA
    • Exemplary people management and leadership skills Strong business acumen and industry expertise
    • Experience in all aspects of developing, planning and implementing sales strategy
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to turn analyses into effective strategies and plans

    Production Team Lead


    The primary role of the Production Team Lead is to coordinate daily line activities for the area/s they are responsible for, and act as the main point of contact for other departments to ensure that all aspects of manufacturing on the designated line (business unit) are covered. The secondary role of the Team Lead is to provide on-the-line support for the shift crew and provide inspection, direction, supervision, training and support to the team in a manner that creates engagement and productivity within the team and the facility.



    • Ensure that coverage is provided for breaks and all staff maintain a break rotation
    • Provide progress reports at weekly team meetings
    • Arrange and lead one Tool Box meeting per week addressing:
      • Safety focus for the week
      • GMP (Food safety focus for the week)
      • Customer complaints/quality issues 


    • Ensure that GMP’s (pre-requisite programs) are understood and followed by all team members. This includes all processing, maintenance, and sanitation activities in business unit including SOP’s, documentation, safe work practices, and the appropriate use of personal practices to maintain food safety.
    • Identify operational cleaning and sanitation checklists. Provide verification of GMP’s in a documented checklist format as a pre-operational checklist prior to commencing daily manufacturing activities.
    • Respond to all quality issues by leading and/or participating in a root cause analysis of the issue and the development of the corrective action that will prevent the issue from re-occurring.
    • Ensure GMP’s and SOP’s are clear, trained to, and practiced to minimize errors, make “it right the first time”, reduce or eliminate waste and re-work.
    • To avoid injuries, ensure all staff on the line understand and practice safe methods of completing assigned tasks. This includes wearing personal protective devices (I.E. eye wear, ear plugs, chemical gloves) as well as applying safe work practices (I.E. proper lifting techniques, lock-out/tag-out, appropriate use of knives).


      • Demonstrate leadership ability and interpersonal skills that engage employees, create a team environment, drive employee productivity and competence, and achieve business unit goals
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to communicate one-on-one and in group settings
      • Focus on quality including the development and adherence to Quality Policy and standard operating procedures that create business unit efficiencies
      • Maintain updated knowledge and strong technical expertise of HACCP, GMPs and FSSC standards, regulations, and practices.
      • Flexible and controlled under crisis situations

      • Problem solver with solid analytical skills and the ability to trouble shoot as the need arises
      • 1-2 years of progressive production manufacturing experience (preferably food production plant) in a supervisory capacity

      • Experience in a culturally diverse work environment
      • Available to work flexible shifts, weekends occasionally. Training will be Mon-Friday morning shift but schedule will primarily be 3-11pm shift with weekends

      Machine Operator


      The Machine Operator monitors, maintains and operates the manufacturing equipment and completes the daily responsibilities and tasks related to the processing, maintenance, and sanitation activities of the designate line (business unit) required for the manufacture of safe and high quality food as required. This position is required to be flexible to the demands of the business and may need to work weekends and overtime.


      • Operate mixing, packaging and baking equipment
      • Maintain, monitor and perform simple routine maintenance as required
      • Provide feedback on performance of equipment and offer suggestions for continuous improvement of work areas
      • Work in a team atmosphere to ensure all production deadlines are met and or exceeded
      • Apply sanitation procedures to ensure food safety of the production areas, machines, and equipment
      • Record sanitation information into log sheets and checklists
      • Ensure work area and facility is kept clean at all times
      • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment as required
      • Follow all standard operating procedures and GMP requirements
      • Adhere to all safety practices and protocols to related job responsibilities and tasks including wearing all PPE when handling chemicals
      • Act in accordance with company policies related to personal and group health and safety practices and procedures


        • High school diploma and two years’ experience in a similar job. Previous experience in a food processing facility and/or similar industry is an asset
        • Strong technical competence and detailed oriented
        • Fluent English (verbal and written communication skills) with the ability to follow clear instructions
        • Capability to work independently without constant supervision
        • Knowledge of GMP, quality, and hygiene standards for food manufacturing
        • Experience working with a diverse group of people
        • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
        • Hours will be 12 – 8 pm starting and eventually will move to 3 pm – 11 pm Monday to Friday (weekends as needed)

        Customer Service Representative


        The Customer Service Representative is a key player in our sales and service. The successful applicant will be part of a team that is responsible for upselling, order entry, and invoicing. Enthusiasm for our products, product knowledge, and a desire to make things better are requirements. Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving are highly valued.
